BWGYBA is accepting registration for tryouts for the 2026-27 travel basketball season. Travel League is available for girls in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. 2nd graders who are ready to play may tryout for the 3rd grade team.
Registration for competitive travel basketball will require each girl to participate in tryouts. Players must be a Baldwin-Whitehall resident or enrolled in a school that does not offer a travel program. Note: participation on past teams does not guarantee a spot on future teams. There is no fee to tryout; however, the league fee is $200.00 if accepting a spot on a team. All league fees must be paid by October 30th.
Tryouts are offered on two dates. While attendance at both sessions is highly recommended, attending at least one session is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should players bring?
Water bottle, basketball if you have one, and sneakers. In the summer, players should also bring their reversible jersey to each game.
When are travel team tryouts?
Tryouts are held in the fall.
How are teams formed?
Travel teams are formed based on skill level, experience, and potential. We aim to place every player in an environment where they can develop best.
For summer teams, we aim to create balanced competition. We'll do our best to meet requests, but cannot guarantee it.
When does the travel season take place?
Teams practice 2-3 times per week throughout the season, beginning in October. Games begin in December and usually finish at the end of February.
Where do travel teams compete?
Our travel teams participate in the South Hills Basketball League. Individual teams may elect to enter local tournaments.
Are there fundraisers?
We hold a few small fundraisers throughout the travel season to help offset costs and keep player fees as low as possible.
